膒 膒 WIEN/VIENNA WEINGUT MAYER AM PFARRPLATZ The traditional winery has been pressing the best Viennese wine in Döbling and Grinzing since 1683. The romantic suburban house on Pfarrplatz is synonymous with wine quality and Viennese Heurigen culture. Ludwig van Beethoven lived here in 1817. During his time in Heiligenstadt he worked on his greatest work, the 9th Symphony. The wines of the estate come from the best vineyards in Vienna: the Nussberg and the Alsegger Riede. With their elegant fruit aromas, balance and minerality, they are characteristic of Vienna’s prime vineyard sites. The traditional Viennese Gemischter Satz is the classic in the diverse range: it is made from Grüner Veltliner, Riesling as well as Rotgipfler and Zierfandler, which are harvested and vinified together. In the case of Riesling, the fine taste nuances of the Nussberg and Alsegger vineyards are emphasised. Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Gelber Muskateller round off the white wine programme. Weingut Mayer am Pfarrplatz also offers an elegant Blauer Burgunder as a red wine. In the heart of this unique vineyard lies the “Rote Haus am Nussberg” in a romantic location. Under the motto “quality instead of quantity”, the Nussberg wines represent the extraordinary character of this best Viennese vineyard. The unique terroir and microclimate form the basis for the elegance and Burgundian style of the wines. Burgundy varieties dominate in the vineyards of the “Rote Haus”. Here, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Neuburger and Traminer grow together in one vineyard and thus form the basis for the Viennese Gemischter Sätze DAC.
