WHITE WINE INSPIRED BY STONE Going directly into the wine cellar, on the other hand, is what you can do at the Stina Winery. It was founded in 2009 by Ivana Andabak’s father, who fell in love with the vineyards. The name Stina is a word from the local dialect and means stone. Inspired by the white stones of the island the family produces exclusively elegant white wines with a fresh character. About 250,000 bottles leave the winery each year which can be visited for tastings from April to October. Tours start at 5 and 6 p.m. for individual visitors. “Our family has taken holidays on the island very often and we love the land. It is a place that makes you feel good and where you love to come back,” explains Ivana Andabak. She appreciates a good meal with a glass of wine. And that’s what Chef Ante Udovičić prepares at the “Hotel Lemongarden” Restaurant. AN OLIVE ISLAND Brač has been an island of olives since Roman times. The ideal combination of plenty of sunlight, nutrient rich soil, light rainfall and fresh sea salt driven by the wind makes for perfect conditions. In this unique microclimate olive trees are grown on approximately 1,900 hectares of agricultural land. And the number of olive trees found on the island is also impressive.
